Every now and then, something happens that absolutely makes your day. Or your week! A surprise visit from a friend or relative, unannounced, that injects just the right amount of joy into your day that no matter what happens for the rest of that day (or week), it just seems that…everything will be ‘ok” because of that singular, spontaneous event. So it was for Peg and I, here at Planet Yogurt, two weeks ago when we received a call from SCV’s élite Magazine, informing us that their readers’ poll had chosen Planet Yogurt as the “2013 Winner of the Ultimate Frozen Yogurt Award.” Who? Us? And of course I’m thinking “Wait…we’ve only been open eight months!”
Could we have made that much of an impact on the community and our customers in such a relatively short period of time to warrant their elevating us to this lofty perch? To vote us number one in the SCV? Well… yes! Apparently the impact we’ve made… the word-of-mouth-gone-viral effect… the ads and articles I’ve written here in this publication (which people do compliment and comment on when they come in)… the terrific reviews on Yelp and responses, compliments and comments on our FB page Planet Yogurt Valencia… the positive, customer response when they come in daily, the unwavering support of the Latino Chamber of Commerce… all of it culminated in that one phone call two weeks ago that told Peg and I, in effect, that the vision we had for this venture a year ago is coming to fruition. We have elevated the sheer concept of the frozen yogurt store to new heights… to levels absolutely unmatched in the SCV. We wanted our customers to have a frozen yogurt “experience” and to feel as comfortable here at PY as if they were at home.
To date, we have welcomed over 2,300 into our store and in the coming summer months we hope thousands more will come, enjoy the healthiest frozen yogurt (by far) in the SCV, take full advantage of our hospitality while relaxing comfortably on the patio, watching the news, the ‘boys of summer’ or their favorite Pixar/DreamWorks movie on our five HD televisions. We thank the readers of élite Magazine for the highest compliment they could have possibly bestowed on us. SCV’s 2013 Ultimate Frozen Yogurt Award. We are humbled.
