As we rapidly approach the fall season, I always look forward to the sounds of children talking as they go to school, the change of colors in our trees (particularly on Orchard Village Road and on Wiley Canyon), the abundance of pumpkin (scones at Starbucks, cookies at the grocery store, scented soap at Bath and Body) and the feeling that it is time to buckle down and start taking life a little more seriously than I did in the summer!
Each season, whether it is defined by the calendar or our lives, brings us new joys and challenges! It is never too early, or too late, to try something new. A woman I work with, who is over 60, has struggled with osteoporosis for several years. About a year ago she began to do strength training with a personal trainer. This week, her doctor told her she had made great strides in improving the impact of this disease because of her training efforts! She is elated – and we all realize it is never too late to try something!
We often put off trying something new because we aren’t comfortable with the effort it may take! Many people tell me that they would go to church if they didn’t have to hassle getting their children ready, if they had more time, if Sunday (or Saturday) wasn’t their only free time in the week. I think these are all valid excuses…however, they are just that… excuses. The fall is a great time to seek out a church – just like when you were in school – new classes are forming, new themes are being introduced and many welcoming activities are being planned! I invite you to join us at Newhall Church of the Nazarene any Sunday! We welcome you to come and see who we are!
Newhall Church of the Nazarene is located at 23857 The Old Road in Newhall. For more information, please email Kathy@newnaz.org and visit www.newnaz.org.
