I have been in the award industry for over 20 years and during that time I have had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with successful people in all walks of life. The people I make awards for are top industry leaders, the best athletes as well as ordinary people who have done something spectacular and are being recognized for that.
I have noticed that many of these people who have experienced great success have similar traits. I believe if we incorporate these traits in our own lives that we can see successful results as well.
1. Attitude, attitude and more attitude. Winners are positive and have optimistic attitudes. They focus on the things that are important and stay on course.
2. They do not procrastinate. They live by the motto, TNT, which means “Today not tomorrow.” They get things done now.
3. Persistence, they never give up. When you’re supposed to make 10 sales calls a day, they make an additional five more.
4. Set goals and think big. Winners monitor their results on an ongoing basis to see that they are heading to accomplishing their goals.
5. Not being afraid to fail. Successful people realize that real failure is not trying. If they do fail at something they use that as a learning experience and try again.
6. They take responsibility. When they are wrong they admit it. It shows maturity and a sign of leadership.
7. They return phone calls. Successful people are accessible and don’t hide from people when there is a problem.
8. Desire. Winners have a burning desire to be the best. Their desire fuels their ambitions to succeed. It is their desire what keeps them from giving up.
9. Enthusiasm. Successful people are enthusiastic and are excited about what they do. People gravitate to them because their excitement is contagious.
10. They work hard. They clearly understand that without hard work their goals will never be realized. They don’t depend on luck. They depend on their skills, work ethic and hard work.
Being successful is up to you. Only you can decide and it depends on how badly you want it. Do you have what it takes?
