The story of Henry and Mudge came to life before a crowd full of children at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center on Saturday, October 26.  Fun for the whole family, this charming Theatreworks musical, based on the best selling series of books by Cynthia Rylant entertained the young audience as part of The Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center’s Young at Heart Series.

Here is Santa Clarita resident and seven year old, Sydney E.’s take on the performance.

On Saturday, I went to the Performing Arts Center and saw Henry and Mudge.  It was a great show.  The show was about a boy named Henry who moved far from his friend so his dad bought him a dog and the dog’s name was Mudge.  Henry was happy because he loved dogs but his mom said to get a small dog and the dad got the biggest dog. Henry played fetch with Mudge. Mudge was a very hyper dog. He loved to jump on people but then Henry got a call from his friend Annie and she said she would visit him.
Finally when she got there, Annie played with Mudge. Henry was training Mudge, but when Annie got there she also tried training Mudge, and Mudge listened to her but not to Henry so Henry got mad and ran off to the forest. By the time he ran off, it was sunset.
Annie said he ran that way so they looked and looked finally they found him and went home. Annie asked why he ran off and Henry explained why. After Annie left and went home, the show was over.
The show was great! It was musical and they sang very good. After the show I took a picture with the cast and they said it’s very fun to act. Mudge the dog said he gets sweaty on stage but he still has fun. The show was great and I can’t wait to go to another performance at the Performing Arts Center!
