After 15 years of hoping a ceramics class would be offered in the Santa Clarita Valley and several years of driving 40 miles round trip to Tujunga for ceramic classes, Rima Raulinaitis decided to bring her love for ceramic arts to the SCV by opening up a privately owned studio.
No stranger to the business world, Rima and her husband Sig also own and operate MTI Builders, Inc., a successful commercial tenant improvement firm.  Rima’s business experience coupled with her love for ceramics have inspired the opening of Ceramic Artist Studio, Inc. (CASI).

Nestled in the heart of Old Town Newhall, CASI is a well-managed, state-of-the-art studio offering a great experience for students new to the art as well as established ceramic artists in the community where all levels of ceramic artists can gather and create with clay in a warm and safe atmosphere.  Opening at the end of January, CASI will provide over 2,000 square feet of space, highest quality equipment including eight potter’s wheels and two large kilns, top notch supplies and ample shelving.
The studio will be air conditioned for those warm summer days and heated for our cool winters.  Complete with a stereo system and brightly lit working areas, the studio will also be home to an art gallery and several ceramics sales each year.  Create a masterpiece with the help of experienced and talented instructors who will bring an array of skills to share.  From teen to adult classes held weekly, to the ceramic artists who wish to work independently, there are a variety of membership opportunities with full use of the facilities, including kiln firings.
“I want to bring more art to the Santa Clarita Valley,” states Rima.  “My hopes are for CASI to be a vital part of the community, where artists can share ideas and knowledge with each other…a place to grow and make memorable experiences.”
CASI is located at 22504 6th Street in Old Town Newhall.   Business hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Studio Hours, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.  Clip the coupon from this issue for a free bag of clay (worth $10).
