This June 7, the Santa Clarita Ballet will bring back to the Performing Arts Center one of its most charming original works for ballet, Snow White.
When Snow White debuted in 2010, among the cast were young dancers who graced the stage with their love for ballet and their burgeoning talent in ballet. Today four of these dancers are high school seniors who, without a doubt, have accomplished as much as students as they have as dancers.
The Santa Clarita Ballet Company (SCBC) is proud to cast them in this year’s performance of Snow White. As these seniors take their final bows with SCBC, they are wished continued success in their every endeavor.
Sidney Haefs will dance the part of The Queen and Monica Payne will dance in her original role of Snow White. Both ladies are seniors at Valencia High School, where they count each other among their best friends. They began their ballet training with the Santa Clarita Ballet Academy when they were just three years old and because of their continued dedication to dance they can add to their resumes the honor of placing in the Top 24 at the Youth American Grand Prix, the world’s largest student ballet scholarship competition.
Samanthaa Sheesley and Camille Xerez-Burgos are also local high school seniors who exemplify the quality of training and artistry that Santa Clarita Ballet cultivates. They have much to be proud of as they look back on the many roles they have performed with SCBC. In this year’s production of Snow White, Ms. Sheesley will dance as The Peddler and with the Maidens pas de quatre. Ms. Xerez-Burgos will dance in the roles of Falling Leaf Fairy and Old Woman.
This year’s Snow White once again offers their younger dancers and audience a wonderful classic ballet experience filled with gorgeous sets and costumes, and, importantly, beautiful choreography. Keep an eye on the cast. Many will follow in the footsteps of SCBC’s Class of 2014 seniors. The Santa Clarita Ballet is proud of their dancers, many of whom go on to dance in college and professionally.
There will be two shows at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons on June 7 from 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale May 1.
