The Santa Clarita Valley has a wide array of options for those with a palate for ethnic food. Health food has become a trend as of late, and nothing has been more fulfilling for this purpose than Indian food. Rich, filling, and healthy, this ethnic favorite has been the go-to cuisine for many health fanatics, not to mention the wide array of options for vegans, vegetarians, and meat lovers alike.

One newly opened restaurant, Parashars’ Indian Kitchen in Saugus, has quickly become a community favorite. This small, family owned establishment specializes in fresh, authentic food made with the finest ingredients found within the vast reaches of India. Open for just over a year, Parashars’ Indian Kitchen is fast becoming a well known name in the valley. The minute you step within their doors, you’re greeted with a cozy atmosphere and the rich aroma of Indian spices.
The environment feels very close to home, as the founder, Poonam Parashar, could tell you. The walls are painted the exact color of her old family room in India! Her mother taught her to cook from a very young age, and it has since become a passion of hers. The food is all based off of her mom’s recipes. Growing up in a business family in Punjab, she had always dreamed of opening a restaurant of her own.
Their menu has a total of 99 items to choose from. For those of us who want a varied meal, there is the option of getting a combo plate that come with fresh Naan bread, rice, two dishes chosen from the variety of options prepared, the dessert of the day (usually rice pudding), and Raita (yogurt). The owners even let you try samples from the combo plate dishes. If you crave something in particular that you can’t see on the menu, they will be happy to make it as you like. The friendly staff is also happy to make your meal as spicy (or as mild) as you like. You can also bring the taste of India to your events with catering.
Parashars’ Indian Kitchen is located at 28112 Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus.  For more information, please call 661-263-2300 and visit www.ParasharsIndianKitchen.com.
