Series of Patriotic Events Planned Citywide for the Fourth of July
Santa Clarita residents are invited to celebrate Independence Day with a series of patriotic events taking place throughout Santa Clarita on Friday, July 4.
Kick off Fourth of July 2014 by indulging in the SCV Rotary Club’s annual Pancake Breakfast.  From 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., residents can stop by the Roger Dunn Parking lot located at 24200 Main Street in Old Town Newhall to enjoy a hearty all-American breakfast for just $4.00 per person.

Then, runners of all fitness levels can jump-start the holiday morning by participating in the Independence Day 5K and 10K, presented by the Santa Clarita Runners’ Club. This traditional, non-competitive race features an exciting course stretching along the 4th of July Parade route.  The 10K will begin at 7:00 a.m. followed by a Kid K at 7:45 a.m., and the 5K race/walk at 8:00 a.m.  All races begin at Newhall Park, located at 24933 Newhall Avenue.  Registration is required at scrunners.org.
After the race, residents can head over to Old Town Newhall to enjoy The Annual Santa Clarita 4th of July Parade, beginning at 9:00 a.m.  This year’s parade, themed “Our Heroes: We Can Because They Do,” will honor the local men and women who consistently work to make a difference in Santa Clarita. This free event will feature Santa Clarita Valley Boys & Girls Club Director Jim Ventress as the Grand Marshall in addition to horses, floats, music, classic cars, military presentations and more.  For more information, visit scvparade.com.
America’s greatest holiday would not be complete without a little sparkle.  For its final act on the 4th, the City of Santa Clarita will light up the night with the Fourth of July Fireworks Show at Westfield Valencia Town Center beginning at 9:15 p.m.
The spectacular display will captivate audiences with a crowd-pleasing firework finale that will paint the sky with bursts of color and fill the air with the sounds of KHTS AM 1220’s live soundtrack.  The show is one of the City’s most popular 4th of July events, so guests are encouraged to arrive early.
