Angelo Lucchese has been a student at Legacy Christian Acadamy since kindergarten. Over the past six years Legacy friends, family, and teachers have watched him grow up playing baseball here in Santa Clarita at Hart Baseball Park along with many other young boys who have a love for the sport!
In July/August of 2013 Coaches: Jerry Miller (Hart High Asst. Coach) and Billy Susdorf and Brian Reagan (Mgr) started a new Majors 12U Travel Baseball Team called the “Santa Clarita Redhawks”. In choosing this team of 13 boys, the coaches were rather clear in what they were looking for – natural talent, with the hunger to learn a new level of baseball. To watch them interact is like seeing the stars align because they have a dynamic chemistry in this home grown team! The more they play the better they get reaching higher and achieving opportunities to play against the best teams they can find, win or lose, they hunger for the experience to compete.
This summer the Redhawks played a National Tournament in Cooperstown, New York – home to The Baseball Hall Of Fame. They came as a team with big dreams, and played to make their dreams come true. They started off the first day with one of the boys getting hit in the eye with a bat, swollen and black but ready to play. On their second they lost their center fielder. He broke his arm diving for a fly ball in center field. Although unable to play he was in with his team for the whole ride. The team battled on and did not lose focus. Home run after home run totaling 36, nothing could get in the way. Their sportsmanship, talent, and coaching was acknowledged by many other teams from all over the country, and quickly became our fan of the Redhawks until the end.
The Redhawks finished in third place out of 104 teams, we are so proud of this team they represented our town of Santa Clarita with true pride and grit!
We would like to thank everyone who has donated at our fundraisers, you helped to make the dream real!
