The idea of 5 To 1 Studios began two years ago, when four guys starting a fledgling rock band began lugging their equipment from space to space trying to find the perfect practice venue. Studios in the San Fernando Valley were booked solid during peak times and the commute for some members became difficult.
5 To 1 is a band rehearsal studio built by a band, to accommodate bands. Each room features new Carvin PA systems and bass rigs. Each room also features new Schure mics and Marshall half stacks. Drummers can play PDP drums (or a custom SJC) But, pack light drummers because each room provides cymbals. A combo amp accents the rooms where you can choose between the new Fender Mustang, the Carvin Bel-Air 210 tube amp or new Line 6 Spyder models. It is a place where bands can come to hone their skills and grow together.
Myself the owner, Steve Martinez, was born into a home of music. As a self taught guitarist and bass player I have carried a passion of music throughout my life. Eventually joining up with Drew Alexander a prolific song writer and performer we formed the band Rockinsaw. We have rocked the LA scene. Playing from dive bars in the San FernandoValley to headlining the Whisky a Go Go, from Long Beach to Santa Barbara we have played our hearts out. And there was only one way to accomplish that – by rehearsing.
5 to 1 Studios intends to provide the Santa Clarita and surrounding community a spot for bands to practice and a place for musicians to mingle and become acquainted. All musicians in all genres are welcome. We look forward to being a new member of this community and making this new venue our home, as well as opening our doors to students and seasoned musicians alike. As 5 to 1 grows, we’ll contribute to our community, help support youth music programs and sponsor music related events to help keep live music thriving.
As the owner of 5 To 1 Studios, I am deeply touched by the outpouring of support I have already received from members of the community. I feel honored to have this opportunity to provide an avenue where musicians and artist can create and evolve.
