It’s time for kids to head back to school and the Santa Clarita Certified Farmers’ Market is ready to assist by providing an opportunity to educate youth on the importance of healthy eating habits through its ‘Back to School’ program.
“Farmers love to interact with the kids and allow them to try new items,” stated Karen Wetzel Schott, Operations Manager for the Ventura County Certified Farmers’ Market Association. “Families will fi nd recipes and tips at the Market,” she added.
As part of the community and educational outreach programs, the Santa Clarita Certified Farmers’ Market also works with local educators to offer school field trips to the markets by appointment, providing students with an overview of California agriculture. The Farmers’ Market encourages parents to involve kids in the shopping experience and get children excited about making healthy choices.
Santa Clarita Certified Farmers’ Market, part of the Ventura County Certified Farmers’ Market Association, is held on Sundays at the College of the Canyons, parking lot 8 on Valencia Boulevard from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon.
