The Friends of the Santa Clarita Public Library is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Gingerbread House Contest.
The contest will be held on Saturday December 6, at the Valencia Branch Library. The Judges will be City Counsel representatives Marsha McClean and Dante Acosta and celebrated baker Merry Graham. Fun for the whole family — Categories are kids, teen, adult, family/group and professional. Perfect for holiday baking fun and scout troops.
The houses will remain on display through Sunday afternoon. Entries in the professional category will be available to take home through a silent auction/donation.
Along with the contest the City and the Friends are offering deliciously fun coordinating programs at the libraries. These include baking/decorating demonstrations and cookie decorating listed below. All events are free and open to the public.
Professional Gingerbread House Decorating Demonstrations (all ages welcome)
Offered at all three library branches:
Kake Kreations: Local business owner and exquisite chef, Angela will present at the Canyon Country Library and Newhall Library
The demonstration at Canyon Country will be scheduled for Thursday, November 20, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The demonstration at the Newhall Library is scheduled for Saturday, November 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Just in time for the Holidays and for the Friends of the Library’s 2nd annual gingerbread house contest! Learn techniques that will make your house terrific and unique. Practice those in making a sample to take home. Led No registration, but limited places, so arrive on time!
Gingerbread Cookie Decorating (children)
Description:
Help us get ready for our 2nd annual Gingerbread House Contest by decorating your very own gingerbread cookie. All cookies and decorating supplies provided. Registration is required. Program for K-6.
Valencia Library: December 3 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Canyon Country: December 4 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Old Town Newhall: December 4 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
