Many exhausting hours of late night studying and all day practices have proved worth it for five local high school seniors. This year, the Wendy’s High School Heisman honors five athletes from West Ranch High School, Valencia High School and Hart High School who have shown excellence in academic achievement, strong athletic talent and meaningful involvement in their community.

Marisa Magsarili and Alex Karroll were both School Winners from West Ranch High School. Chad Le Duff and Kaitlyn Uythoven received the award from Valencia High School and Marc Langford was recognized as the School Winner at Saugus High School.  All went on to compete in the State Finals where Magsarili came out as a Finalist at the state level.
“We have never seen as many applicants and school winners as we have this year,” said Rob Montgomery, owner of Wendy’s of Santa Clarita. “Our community produces so many great athletes, and I am proud that Wendy’s recognizes them for their achievements in all areas.”
Wendy’s began taking nominations early this fall and applications for the award were due on October 10. Wendy’s High School Heisman National Finalists are invited to attend the Heisman Weekend in New York City in December where Wendy’s selects its National High School Heisman Winners. Two National Winners will be announced during a pre-recorded broadcast that will air on December 14 on ESPN2.
Since 1994, Wendy’s High School Heisman program has honored more than 395,000 of the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors in partnership with the Heisman Memorial Trophy® Committee. The leadership-award nominees are well-rounded men and women who excel at learning, performing and leading in the classroom, on the field and in the community.
