Spring is fast approaching, and with it, some very exciting events are happening in the Sulphur Springs School District.
• The Estrella Awards will be held March 26, 31, and April 2. These awards are given to students who show mastery in at least two languages. Students are honored individually for their hard work and dedication.
• On April 16, the district will host it’s first Student Engineering Fair, where students will show off projects ranging from computer programmed video games and animations to Science and Engineering projects completed in one of our STEAM classes, the Junior Engineering Program for primary students at Mint Canyon School or the Coding Clubs. We are excited to see the final products of our students’ critical thinking and creativity.
• April 20 Sulphur Springs School District teachers will participate in the first Art’s Integration Colloquium where students learn social studies, science, math, and reading through dance, music, theatre or visual arts.
• On April 30, our GATE students will present their GATE projects that model themes such as Power and Change at the District GATE Night. Year after year, these students continue to push the envelope in their interpretations of these themes. The work they do with technology is out of this world!
• School-wide Art Fairs at each school’s Open House during the month of May.
• On May 19, 26, and 28, our student writers will participate in the Young Authors Conferences where their published work will be presented and each ‘young author’ will read a selection of their own bound book. A copy of each of these student authored books are placed in the school library.
• Finally, the District Band and Chorus will present their end of year concerts in early June.
It is always an exciting time of year in the Sulphur Springs School District as the creativity, ingenuity, and determination of our students blossom into rich expressions of their learning.
