I think all of us in Santa Clarita would agree that, once again, we have been experiencing amazing weather!  As I write this, it is about 80 degrees, windy and very, very sunny! The funny thing is – even though we all enjoy this weather – everyone is upset that we are in the fourth year of a terrible drought!  Daily I hear people expressing concern that even though we were optimistic in December, our wet weather, once again, eludes us! So many trees are in bloom, my daffodils are already out and our green hills could be a precursor to a dry fire season fueled with the beauty we see today.

Life seems to be a lot like our weather – we expect certain things to logically happen, in a specific order….but that is often not the case!  Our lives are filled with the unexpected, the illogical, the unplanned!  Whether good or bad, happy or sad…that is the nature of life!  Much like the weather person on television, you have a chance to get it right only about 50 percent of the time.  But, even if we can’t predict what is going to happen in our lives; we must keep moving forward, planning, adapting and trying to get it right!
As you can imagine, Easter is a very busy time in the church; often much busier than Christmas.  Holy Week, which begins on Palm Sunday, has daily significance in the remembrance of the last week of the life of Jesus.  Easter Sunday is a celebration of the true significance of the Christian faith – the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
For me, Easter, much like spring, is a chance to begin again, to become better than I was before.  Celebrations such as Easter often speak to the hearts of many who are seeking change, or rebirth, in their lives.  We know the old saying “…if you keep doing what you have been doing…” the results will always be the same.  Change requires change, moving forward requires action, determination requires courage.  So this Easter I encourage you to move forward and make the changes, big or small, that have been on your mind.  If attending church is one of those changes, there is no better time to begin than on Easter.  The religious directory in this magazine can help you identify churches in our area.  And, of course, we would love to see you at NewNaz!
