In March, students from over 50 private and public elementary schools arrived at Occidental College for the Los Angeles Regional Science Olympiad to compete in 20 different science, engineering and technology events.
Legacy’s fourth-to-sixth-grade Science Olympiad team, coached by the Academy’s Director of Activities and Spiritual Life Matt Millett, took gold! This is the fourth year LCA has earned such impressive honors; Legacy’s young scientists also received gold medals in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
This exciting achievement comes as the Academy is also celebrating their nomination for the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Schools Program. This is a highly-distinguished nomination; only 50 private schools throughout the United States earn it each year. In fact, this nomination is so rare that there was not a single private school throughout California that was honored with a nomination in 2014.
