Most parents remember summers being about vacations, swimming, sports and lots of hanging out with friends. Summer schedules for most families are just as complex as during the school year, if not more. We now want our kids to keep their skills, get ahead, and use their time wisely to help them excel in the future.
There is now exam schools, test prep and college planning services to add to our lists to consider. Making room in the summer for added academic enrichment is undoubtedly the most important priority. Even though we have great public schools in SCV, students with special needs and also gifted students are not being challenged or served to the best of their ability.
Giving your child the opportunity to excel and take a course in a small group, get ahead, prepare for next year and also get credit for college admission has been a choice at Math Support Services since 1997. Flexible schedules that allow families to plan their summer class around vacations, sports activities, summer camps and other activities are available.
Focusing on individual attention so that students gain confidence and see success. Students find that the courses actually seem easier although they are covering all of the content as they would experience at school.
Math Support offers all junior and senior high school mathematics, chemistry and physics classes. Our programs are approved by the William S. Hart District and accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges). Classes also meet the UC a-g requirements for college admissions and have been approved by the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association).
Preparation classes are available for 5th grade thru 8th graders and are designed to be a fun and exciting way to reinforce key math concepts. MSS also prepares students for important placement exams.
A little work over the summer can prevent problems for students who will be taking rigorous course work in the fall. This is invaluable in creating student success in fall classes that are overcrowded; where teachers have less time to intervene when students unprepared for the new material.
Registration began March 10 and classes will fill quickly. For more information on our summer programs, scholarships and registration information please visit our website at www.mathsupportservices.com, or call us at 661-255-1730.
