It was a beautiful morning as nearly 425 walkers gathered to take steps for a cure in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides Walk.  Teams gathered on Saturday, May 9 at Westfield Valencia Town Center and enjoyed live music by 661 and a Star Spangled Banner a cappella performance by Stage Door Singers.

Craig Shinkarik from Forever Fit SCV led the crowd with warm ups before the 5K began.  Teams raised over $75,000 all to support CFF and their mission to fund research for a cure.
“When I was born I wasn’t expected to live to be 15,” states committee member Kristina DeBree. “But despite living with cystic fibrosis, I went to college, got a graduate degree, started a private practice and turned 29 last month.  None of it would have been possible without donations to support research and medical advancement during my lifetime”
The Magazine of Santa Clarita was pleased to sponsor this event and we look forward to seeing you participate in the Dancing With Our Stars event this August!
