In a world of dashing princes, beautiful princesses, and magical fairies, friendship always trumps evil, and a single kiss can change everything. No classic fairy tale proves that better than The Sleeping Beauty. On Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, join the Santa Clarita Ballet Company at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center for its debut performance of The Sleeping Beauty and watch true love win.

Under the artistic direction of Carol Guidry, The Sleeping Beauty features outstanding performances by Santa Clarita Ballet Company’s most advanced dancers and guest professionals. The Sleeping Beauty offers audiences a unique opportunity to see a ballet never before staged in Santa Clarita performed exclusively by professional and para-professional dancers. Professional ballerina and Santa Clarita Ballet Company alumnus, Hannah Wilcox will appear as Aurora, the Sleeping Beauty, and lead this accomplished group.
New sets and sparkling costumes will whisk audiences of all ages back in time for a three-act retelling of a beloved romance. The Sleeping Beauty begins on the occasion of Aurora’s sixteenth birthday celebration, where four exotic suitors have come to claim her hand.  While joyously dancing, she accidentally pricks her finger on a hidden needle setting into motion a curse placed on her at birth by the vengeful fairy Carabosse.  Tchaikovsky’s timeless music creates a suspenseful tone, as the Lilac Fairy works to prevent Aurora’s  death by placing the entire castle into a 100-year slumber until a prince is found who’s true love kiss reverses the curse and restores happiness to the kingdom; if only the right prince is found in time.
Tickets for Sleeping Beauty go on sale July 1st at Santa Clarita Ballet for performances on Saturday, September 19th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, September 20 at 2 p.m. Santa Clarita Ballet is located at 26798 Oak Avenue. To order tickets by phone, please call 661-251-0366.
