Congratulations to our 1,500-plus sixth graders who promoted to seventh grade! We are proud of your accomplishments and know that the future is big and bright for each and every one of you. Your teachers provided you with outstanding educational experiences, prepared you well, and now you are ready to take on the next step of your educational career. Enjoy junior high school and come back to visit and let us know how you’re doing!
Many, many thanks to our parents, grandparents, and community members who volunteered hundreds and hundreds of hours to help our schools in so many ways. Our teachers appreciated your extra special touch in volunteering in and out of the classroom. The activities and events at each school were exciting and a true testimony to the dedication and commitment of our families in supporting our schools with their time, talents, and treasure. If you’d like to be more involved next year, please let your administrator know and he/she will put you in contact with the right person.
Summer is a time to reflect on the school year just completed, for family, making memories and just some plain old-fashioned fun! Consider having your children write a memoir about the grade they have just completed. Who were their teachers and friends? What were the best events? What is their most precious memory? What was the greatest challenge and how did they overcome it? What are they looking forward to in the next grade? Can you imagine what a treasure you would have if you had these memoirs strung together over your children’s school careers? What a story!
Remember to have your children read, read, and read some more this summer. The more proficient your children are in reading, the more successful they are in school and in life. Our Santa Clarita Library has a fabulous summer reading program. Check it out at http://www.santaclaritalibrary.com/. Does your child need to memorize math facts? Summer is a great time to practice these for ease of use in the fall. Are there some math concepts your child needs reinforced or would like to expand his/her current knowledge? Take a look at https://www.khanacademy.org/. The internet offers so many enriching activities.
