Think for one minute about all the rules and attitudes about dressing a certain way to match your age. It’s a depressing, constricting thought, isn’t it? Now imagine simply dressing for yourself, for fun, for comfort, for expression! Sounds like a beautiful thing, doesn’t it?
In my world clothing should never be uncomfortable. I’m not promoting a lifetime of only sweat pants, but as a general rule we all need to sit, bend, and breathe without being worried about a wardrobe malfunction. Too tight, too fitted, too restraining is not attractive on the best of figures. Try to remember the last time you saw an attractive, distinguished middle aged or older gentleman with skin tight, button popping clothes on? Men just simply don’t succumb to that type of craziness. Why should we?
We all have a style. We may not know exactly what it is, but we definitely know when we look good and when we feel good! That should be the goal. Stop aiming for looking younger, and start aiming for looking better! Don’t be afraid to express yourself. If you are feeling fun and flirty, you should absolutely go with the urge to throw on a little sundress and some funky jewelry and feel great all day long. If you have toned arms – show them! How can something strong and healthy be unattractive? If you have great legs, why in the world would you hide them? Let today be the day we stop trying to dress to our age and start dressing to our best true self!
