Back to school is just around the corner, for many of us that means making sure our kids get to bed early to get a good night’s rest, prepping our kids lunches before they take off to school, and making sure that they have a good healthy breakfast before heading out the front door for the day. Is your child ready to succeed?

It is actually proven that parents who are active in their children’s lives, and play an active role in their education, make a huge difference in their success. So here are some tips to help your kids kick off a successful school year!
Early Bird Gets The Worm: First, there is the good ol’ get to bed on time. Your kids will be accustomed to saying up late on those summer nights, hanging out with friends, and for the boys, staying up playing video games. Have your child get use to a back-to-school routine early, and start the transition early in the week, instead of trying to make the transition last minute the day before.
Create A Study Area: Create an area where your kids can have a quiet special place to get home and study, do homework, and unwind. Remove any type of distractions, and make it an incentive to earn privileges such as playing outside, watching television, or earning their phone back once their homework is done.
Engage With Your Kids About Their Day: You would be surprised how much you could learn from asking your child how school was. Or maybe even asking them if they learned anything new, or how they are doing in class. Not only does this allow you to get a better idea of how they are doing in school, but you will also bond with your child by letting them know you take an interest in what they are doing at school.
Supportive: Being supportive is something that parents should do for their child. It is essential for your children to feel like they have that back up support in anything they choose to do in school. Maybe your child is more into art, or science, or maybe music. Whatever their passion is, support them in that direction, and try to get them involved in a club, or after school class that can engage their interest further.
During the school year make sure to not loose sight of these four key tips. Engaging, support, and good rest can help lead to success in your child’s life. Communication is key, and your parenting mindset may be the most important way to impact your children’s learning and development. Getting a new school year off to a good start can influence your child’s attitude, confidence, and performance both socially and academically!
