Is your plan for SAT Preparation filled with panache or procrastination? When should students prepare for the upcoming SAT Test? I am trying to be pithy when I share that procrastination prevents practical preparation. The research is in and is undeniable that professional preparation that combines an individual analysis of strengths and weaknesses, a game plan for test strategies and lots of opportunities for content question practice leads to higher scores.
Will your student be ready for the test in October? It is recommended that students begin to prepare at least three months before the test date. Performance on the SAT is directly related to first-year college grade point average. A good SAT Prep Program should map the development of skills in writing, mathematics and reading. It should analyze the areas of strength and weakness so that focus and attention may be placed in an understanding of “trouble” spots. The SAT Specialist is best prepared if he or she is a “test taker” and is someone who has scored well on this and similar tests. Look for a SAT specialist who is invested in helping the student to determine the next steps necessary to build the essentials skills needed. The goal to reach a higher score on test day is also only accomplished when the student is able to work at his/her peak performance level. It is therefore, important to remember the simple steps of getting a good night’s sleep and eating a light meal as these steps are also important. Preparation and practice produce results.
