Don’t be Afraid to Spay or Neuter!
Fixing your pet is generally a very safe procedure and, depending upon the animals’ age or health level, is good for the health of your pet as well as the animal community at large. This simple procedure can decrease the risk of diseases that are expensive to treat and could be potentially life threatening to your pet and the pets around your pet.
Dogs and cats that are spayed or neutered have up to an 85 percent lower risk of serious health complications and certain types of cancers, such as testicular cancer for males and breast or ovarian cancer for females. Animals that are fixed make better companions because they are not motivated to wander or stray in search of a mate. Being fixed also eliminates some annoying behavioral problems such as marking or spraying. Animals that have been spayed or neutered are typically less likely to bite, roam or get into fights.
Our goal is to encourage today’s society to realize there is a better way to solve overpopulation rather than needlessly euthanizing unwanted animals. Simply spaying or neutering your animal helps reduce the number of strays and unwanted animals in shelters and rescues. Unintentional breeding is the root cause of over population in shelters and strays on the street and can easily be solved by fixing your pet.
All of the pets adopted through Shelter Hope Pet Shop come fixed or require spay and neuter as soon as the pet becomes of age. If you have a pet in need of spay or neuter please contact us and we will connect you will people that can help!
