Let’s Talk About Art — Did You Know? – Sept 2015
The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association wants to create a permanent Art Galley for the artists to use in exhibiting visual art for the community to enjoy. So let’s do it. Let’s create an art gallery right here in Santa Clarita! Why you ask?
Because the residents of Santa Clarita need art to be part of their lives. How will it be done? By all SCAA members and people in the community volunteering to help create an art gallery for the artists’ association.
When are we going to create an art gallery? Beginning now. Let’s talk about the importance of the arts and especially the visual arts.
Why is art important? Why is art important in society? What is art? How do we explain what art is? Let us begin to discuss why art is important which is a big question and to answer that question here is an example to the big question. Art is important because it belongs to all of us as an expression of our innate, human drive to find and make meaning of the things we see. Art portrays real daily lives of people and the person creating the art. Art is a way for us to express our vision through many different and unique ways. No matter who you are, or what part of the world you are in art has a way of lifting our spirits, and making us feel good. One piece of art can affect so many people in so many different ways. Art is a means of communication and not just with words. With art there are no rules, you may smile, laugh, cry, or you might love art or hate art. It all comes down to perception so you can feel what you want Art is a creative act that is used to express opinions and ideas that might not otherwise be able to be expressed. Art can be inspiring and have a great influence on us. Since the beginning of human existence people have used their surroundings as a canvas for expressing themselves. Art has been in existence for centuries and years before the written language was developed and art has changed a lot over time.
Today the Santa Clarita Artist’s Association is like a ship that is anchored at the shore and cannot move. The name of the ship is “SCAA Artspace” and holds over 180 artists who want to find a space to exhibit their art work. The ship needs to find a space for the ship to dock and find ways for the artists to exhibit their work.
What can you do to help? Contact the fundraising committee and tell them you want to help support the idea of an art gallery being created for the Santa Clarita Artist’s Association. Listed below is the name to contact for you to help SCAA find a permanent art gallery.
