A Child’s Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving, for most of us, means family, friends, feasting, and fun. It means relaxing and being thankful for all we have. But what does it mean to a preschooler? Are children at this stage too young to understand the meaning of the holiday?
CBS Preschool has an amazing program every Thanksgiving, which introduces the meaning of the holiday to the kids. Each class takes the stage and performs a song or two for the parents. They also have their own feast where they share their favorite goodies. The festive atmosphere combined with the traditions of the holiday and the presence of friends and parents, help the children understand and look forward to the specialness of the upcoming holiday.
It’s a great example of how CBS combines education with developmentally appropriate fun. And it isn’t just Thanksgiving that we celebrate! CBS uses both Jewish and American holidays as focal points to teach our kids, and when no holidays are upcoming, we still utilize music, art, and interactive fun to foster a love of learning in our classrooms.
Come and check out the smiles for yourself! Just contact Carol Bloom, our Director, at 661-254-2411 or carol.bloom@cbs-scv.org for a chat and a tour, and don’t be surprised if you see a few adorable turkeys while you’re there.
