Heart Walk Raises More Than $1.5 million

by | Nov 1, 2015 | On The Town

The American Heart Association’s Heart Walk raised more than $1.5 million and brought together 2,500-plus community members at Bridgeport Park on October 10.  Some of the participants in the Santa Clarita Heart Walk included family and friends of heart disease survivor Jasmine Winning, who celebrated her first birthday at the event.  Instead of birthday gifts, the Winning family asked friends and supporters to donate to the cause, enabling the family to exceed their $1,000 fundraising goal.  Other individuals who participated to remember their loved ones included Yolanda Chartan, whose son died of cardiac arrest at age 24.  Heart disease and stoke are the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers in the world.
