Light the Night with LLS Fighting against blood cancer
The California Southland Chapter of LLS invited residents and supporters alike to join in the fight against blood cancer by attending their Light the Night annual fundraiser, which took place Saturday, November 14. The family-friendly event featured activities for kids, an inspiring program highlighting cancer survivors and those who lost their battle, quiet areas for reflection and remembrance, and places for cancer patients and survivors to relax during the festivities. The walk itself was 1.5 miles and is designed for all ages and fitness levels. The event is for survivors to attend to carry white lanterns during the walk, while supporters carry red lanterns, and participants carry gold lanterns in honor or memory of a loved one. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has shared the stories of their Honored Heroes – individuals and families who are fighting for their lives or have reached a place of healing. These families have all benefited from the supportive services of LLS, the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancers. Without such an organization, their situations could have been made much worse.
