Shopping Awesometown
Decades before Valencia got its Awesometown nickname, Margo’s was the destination for high fashion in the Santa Clarita Valley. When Margo Hudson shuttered her fabulous boutique in the Plaza Posada to expand her community-service repertoire, the Santa Clarita Valley was destined to become a leader in high-end resale fashions.
For years, Single Mothers Outreach (SMO) had been collecting donated clothing for the benefit of the single moms and their kids. Margo and much of her staff from her boutique helped SMO expand their horizons. Margo had the vision to transform and expand this idea to establish a luxury resale boutique so that the whole community could be more involved by shopping and donating in an upscale and friendly environment.
Margo created the Closet on Main, a new social business with the aim to create a unique environment selling gently-used fashions while providing professional stylists to help clients look and feel their best. Margo knew that being dressed in an outfit that enhances your appearance helps you to stand tall and face your challenges with the most confidence. To this day, the Closet on Main emphasizes genuine interest in its clients and customers while providing a lovely clean and organized atmosphere where shoppers and families are welcomed. Having met and exceeded the goals for SMO and staying true to her persona as a visionary “mover and shaker” in the community, Margo had informed SMO about a year ago that she was ready to hand over the reins of management of the Closet on Main before year-end 2015.
Margo has always been able to attract top talent to volunteer their time at the Closet on Main. The harmonious team is hard working and devoted to keeping the Closet on Main a must-see destination in SCV. One of its most devoted volunteers, Laurie Tucci Auger, had a long career in the non-profit sector and an interest in opening her own retail business while staying involved with the non-profit community. Within the Closet on Main, Laurie Tucci Auger has established Via Tucci, a stylish retail boutique providing one-on-one service to customers. Many Via Tucci customers shop and donate to the Closet on Main making the arrangement an ideal fit. SMO is delighted to announce that Laurie has agreed to take on the management of the Closet on Main. We encourage you to stop by and introduce yourself to Laurie and the volunteer staff.
Proceeds from the Closet on Main benefit the non-profit Single Mothers Outreach. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 24335 Main Street in Newhall.
