Aprons – Protect your clothing
Aprons have been around as long as anyone can remember. A handy tool, the principal use of an apron is to protect the wearer and their clothing underneath. From blacksmiths to cooks, from cobblers and grocers to bakers and fisherman, aprons have been worn throughout time by nearly every tradesman and tradeswoman.
It was not until the turn of the 12th century that it became fashionable for women to wear an apron and the heavy leather and suede gave way to delicate materials with lace, patterns, embroidery and frills.
Over the years, aprons have had many uses for women from carrying eggs in from the chicken coop to drying a child’s tears, from wiping a cooks hands and brow to bringing in vegetables from the garden. These uses are still done today but mostly, modern aprons are a bold statement of ones fun and lively personality. Today, aprons can have a retro design recalling the past, as well as, any style and pattern a woman, man or child could want.
Every time I put on my apron, I feel I am ready to face a new culinary adventure. At Clarice’s Cakes and Candy Supplies, we love our aprons and carry a wide variety from cute to practical for men, women and children.
