Jaycees Spread Christmas Cheer More than 370 children receive an estimated $20,000 in donated holiday presents

More than 370 children in need received donated gifts and an afternoon of wintry fun during the Jaycees’ annual Santa’s Helpers event on Saturday, December 12 at Ice Station Valencia.  JCI Santa Clarita, also known as the Jaycees, saw so much support this year that some children even rode away on brand new bikes – despite their adorable looks of utter disbelief.  Working in coordination with local non-profits, the event served clients from: Child & Family Center, Single Mothers Outreach and Domestic Violence Center of SCV.  In addition to the gift donation, the Jaycees and Ice Station Valencia hosted an afternoon party complete with crafts, free ice skating, a book corner and lunch.  Donations totaled an estimated $20,000 in value, including more than $2,500 in gift cards.  “Santa’s Helpers is all about helping those less fortunate than ourselves,” said Chris Kahan, 2015 Jaycees President.  “It’s the very essence of Christmas and community spirit.”
