Long Term Damage from UV Radiation
Most people nowadays are aware of the long term damage that UV radiation causes to their skin. Daily sunscreen lotions are being used much more often than they were in past years. Unfortunately, some of us already have years of previous sun exposure from our younger years.
Over time, years of unprotected sun exposure takes its toll on our skin. You may have noticed changes to the way your skin looks, that appeared to happen overnight. You may see a multitude of changes such as red or ruddy tone, brown spots and freckles, as well as a “crepey” looking texture.
Luckily, there are treatments available to correct past UV damage. Some will see dramatic improvement even after their first treatment!
Limelight Fotofacial (IPL) treatments utilize intense pulsed light to “pull out” dark spots lying under the skin’s surface, reduce redness, brighten, and improve the texture of skin. Five painless treatments are performed once a month with little down time.
Fraxel Re:store Dual laser resurfacing is another option for damaged skin with brown sun spots, and “crepey” texture. Fraxel is able to penetrate deep into the skin repairing sun damage and dramatically improving the appearance and quality of the skin. Four treatments are typically needed once a month. There is little down time other that mild swelling and pinkness to the treatment area.
This month at DermaCure, if you purchase a Fraxel or Limelight facial package, we will include a décolletage package for free!
