Meet Aspiring Artist Alexis Wolfe – Local high school student pays her own way toward a future in music
Music has always been a passion of Valencia High School student Alexis Wolfe. At the age of 17, she already has produced three songs and three music videos, as well as hosted a music video premier at Regal Cinemas in Valencia.
As an independent artist, Alexis has a music style – with hints of R&B, hip-hop and pop – that appeals to today’s generation. Her musical influences include R&B artists Rihanna and Beyonce. But before she discovered who she was as an artist, it all started with a simple yet compelling love of music.
“I always enjoyed singing when I was little,” Alexis said. “I used to watch American Idol, and I thought I could never take it to the next level on my own. I always thought I had to be signed by someone. But with the help of my family and friends I have been able to make that dream come true.”
Since arriving at her dream of being a music artist, Alexis has worked with her peers in the Valencia TV production class to produce three music videos from start to finish. All of Alexis’ music videos are 100 percent student-produced. Currently all of Alexis’ projects are funded by her part-time job.
“It is really cool to film with kids that are my age,” Alexis said. “Some of them are two years older, but working with all of them is an incredible experience. It is always awesome to see the end product.”
She recently held the premier of her third music video On One at the Edwards Valencia Theatre to a supportive crowd. She also is in the process of working with a duo group in Germany that produces electronic dance music, or EDM.
Though Alexis envisions music as a part of her future, she plans to grow in her musical career while continuing her education. Alexis is currently a high school senior and is hoping to attend University of California, Santa Barbra to study psychology. But until then, Alexis will continue to work with her peers in hope of getting recognized.
“I hope I can continue pursuing music with the help of others and show people,” Alexis said, “if you really want to do it, you can make it.”
