Santa Colorita 5K Fun Run Sign up now!
On Saturday, February 13, join us for our SCV Chamber of Commerce’s 3rd annual Santa Colorita Fun Run starting at 8 a.m., a festival of community, color, fitness, fun and families, at Castaic Lake Recreation Area. Taking place all over the world, these Fun Runs have become a celebration of health, happiness, individuality, and a spirit of giving back to one’s community. This event is for runners and participants of all ages…there’s only one rule… wear something white…anything white…and maybe some goggles…’cause you’re gonna’ get “rainbowed”! I am proud to again be the Chair of this amazing event. We had nearly 2,000 runners last year, and hope to far exceed that number this year. But you can also attend as a non-runner, as there will be entertainment, vendor booths focused on health and wellness, as well as other products. The proceeds benefit our Chamber, who does extraordinary things to benefit our local businesses, and we are proud to also present proceeds from the event to The Wish Education Foundation.
And a very special event within our event immediately following our last wave of runners is “Skip for Jack”. Jack’s Angels Foundation is a local public charity inspired by the life of James-William “Jack” Demeter, (8/30/08—7/30/12), who was diagnosed at age three with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, or DIPG, succumbing to the disease nine months later. Jack wanted more than anything to SKIP, jump, and play! Jack also loved hearts. This portion of the race is dedicated to Jack’s love for skipping, fun, happiness, and the joy of the heart… It is also symbolic of the hope that never dies for progress with DIPG research, and advances in available treatments for pediatric brain tumors. Highlighting the Skip for Jack event will be a Family Fun Center with pony rides, face painting, and much more.
If you would like to highlight your business, there are sponsorships and booths available for this well attended event. Thank you to Sierra Medical Group as our Presenting Sponsor, and Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital as our Fitness Sponsor.
Don’t wait, sign up now by going to www.santacolorita.com. All questions can be answered there as well, and you can also call the chamber for more information at 661-702-6977.
