Bold International Taste Comes to SCV Quality meets flavor at King Kogy
Ju and Kofi Yiadom have traveled the world to discover, sample and perfect the best flavors from every cuisine they tasted along the way. Now, they’ve brought it all back to their new global fusion restaurant, King Kogy in Valencia.
“I have an obsession with food,” Ju said. “I travel to eat.”
The ideal restaurant for Ju and Kofi was something that was healthy, bold and carried flavors from around the world to your plate, so all the food on the menu is influenced and inspired by various international cuisines from Ju’s travels. And so far, the response has been as enthusiastic as Ju’s love for flavor.
“We have only been open two weeks, and we have been really busy,” Ju said in mid-January.
King Kogy’s international menu is focused on marinated meat or tofu that is slow cooked to soak up all the bold flavors. And hungry diners can see the process with their own eyes, as their meat is spun rotisserie-style when you walk in. Currently the most popular dish is the BB Box – a feast of sautéed vegetables, egg and choice of meat, cooked to order and topped with a zesty spicy sauce.
In addition to flavor, King Kogy offers variety. Like a buffet of the world’s foods, King Kogy’s menu reflects options that satisfy every member of the family in a casual and family friendly environment. As the parents of three children, Ju and Kofi understand the need for food that caters to families’ on-the-go lifestyle and consistently busy schedules.
“Having three kids, I know it can be hectic when you are trying to take a family of three young children out to eat,” Ju said. “Most of the time, you want to get in and get out, since you are already on a tight schedule. You need to have a place you can all go to have something you can all enjoy, and you may even need to take it to go.”
With the health-conscious food and extensive variety of a sit-down restaurant, and the speed of an order-and-go establishment, King Kogy is perfectly suited to serve busy families.
“Everything is made to order, so it does take a bit longer than your typical walk-in restaurants, but it is worth it!” Ju said. “We also carry vegetarian options.”
Even though this is the Yiadoms’ first restaurant, they’ve had family in the restaurant industry for years.
“I know what it takes to run your own restaurant: a lot of hard work and even more passion,” Ju said. “My personal background and experience is in operational corporate development, but now I am infusing it with my love and passion for food.”
Currently, King Kogy is still in the opening stage, but is hoping to eventually expand to multiple locations. In order to reach that level of success, Ju is hoping for one thing.
“We always want feedback from our customers – even five years down the road, we would love feedback,” Ju said. “It will allow us to communicate with our customers and know how we are doing.”
Currently, if you visit King Kogy and bring back your receipt, you will receive 10 percent discount off your next purchase!
