Home Design Trends for 2016
2016 is the year of making a statement! Start by using fabulous fabrics paired with sexy silhouettes which is the look for the season. You will definitely want linens that scream pizazz. Reserve your bedroom for mixed metal colors like gold, copper, steel, as long as they have a metallic sheen that is the trend for 2016. So, in other words, it is bling like you have never seen before. Designers are also looking to fabric wall art which is the attention getter from silk to damasks.
Outdoor fabrics used indoors are becoming increasingly hard to distinguish from traditional indoor fabrics and many people are bringing them inside where their durability makes perfect sense for high traffic dining rooms and living rooms.
You will want your living room to be a calm respite where you can relax and read a book, talk with your friends or just sit and do nothing, thus living rooms are becoming devoid of digital distractions. You want your living room to be fully decorated but not over the top. So don’t go overboard. Pay attention to the scale, your light function and strike the right balance with color and accessories. Look for brocades, tapestries and Georgian and Empire antiques. Fringe, cording and tassels will soften the austerity of modern upholstery. Another big statement for your room is pendant lighting . Feature a tall, attractive pedestal to exhibit a sculpture, a beautiful plant or some other gorgeous work of art… maybe one by your child! If you are looking for a change in your bedroom and for a better night’s sleep in a relaxing, calming atmosphere then blackout curtains are the way to go.
Texture is In! And guess what is back? Florals… including dark florals! They are of course reinterpreted so that you will love them again! Dramatic color is also big on the design scene, as well as, navy and indigo.
And yes, there was lots of pink beige upholstery being used in the mix for 2016.
