Success for Every Student Math Support Services is the solution

More than 20 years ago, founder and owner Peggy Cannistraci sat at her kitchen table, trying to help her children become successful in mathematics – a familiar experience for most parents.  After dealing with the complexities of the parent and child relationship, and the difficulties most parents face when returning to advanced mathematics, Peggy then decided it was time to go back to school herself.  Sharing the experience with her children, Peggy earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in mathematics curriculum and instruction for secondary education, as well as a Clear California Teaching Credential.   With this new education, she would realize her vision: supporting students who need a more personalized one-on-one educational setting.
Within a few years, Peggy founded Math Support Services, the first supplementary private school in the Western United States to be accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, as well as by the Commission on the International and Trans-Regional Accreditation.  The school has been recognized by the William S. Hart Union High School District in the Santa Clarita Valley and, in a unique partnership, offers transferable mathematics courses such as: Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus, as well as PSAT, SAT and ACT preparation courses, and college planning workshops.  Small group and private options are also available to meet every scheduling need.
“Students are placed into a mathematics class, and with such a large school district, not everyone picks up the material.  As a result, some fail their math courses, despite their best efforts and the efforts of their families,” Peggy said.
Math Support Services has been transferring replacement grades for courses conducted at Math Support to the Hart District for 18 years, with a 98 percent success rate on average, and more than 6,ooo students have succeeded in their courses at Math Support Services since 1997.  Many more have found success by adding tutoring to support their education.
