The March of Little Feet by Lisa Gail Green
As winter wears on and we all look forward to spring, we start thinking about new beginnings. In fact, Kindergarten registration for the fall is in full swing around the SCV. If your child isn’t ready to start “big kid school” quite yet, you should still be seriously considering preschools. They may be little, but it’s a big decision. This is your precious child we’re talking about and you can’t just trust anyone to help with her care and education. Up until now it’s been you alone as the authority figure in your child’s life. It can be daunting for us to make that transition — probably more so than our kids! So what do you look for?
A school that understands that fostering a love of learning is of the utmost importance. Academic? Developmental? The truth is, each child is different and you need a curriculum that understands those differences and embraces them. At CBS we nurture the whole child, emotionally and academically while immersing him in a fun, Jewish atmosphere. We use song, art, and play to incorporate all the senses in learning.
A school that kids want to attend. I can’t speak for other schools, but at CBS you can walk in at any time and see kids playing, smiling, and having fun. It’s a feeling that warms your heart and an atmosphere that’s a virtual hug for your child.
Teachers that care. You don’t want a great curriculum if the adults interacting with your child are standoffish or tired of their jobs! At CBS the teachers play and interact with the kids and the kids in turn can’t wait to hug and talk to their teachers. At the same time, you will be amazed at what your child is capable of at such a young age! I remember being shocked that my daughter could follow directions and participate in circle time when the teacher asked — and actually wanted to do it.
More questions? If you’re not sure what to do, overwhelmed, or have it down to the nitty gritty details, give Carol Bloom, our lovely director a call at 661-254-2411 and take a tour of CBS Preschool. Everyone is welcome and chances are you will meet other parents (you can always ask for references too) and have honest discussions about any concerns or questions you may have.
For directions, call the CBS office at 661-254-2411.
