Wishing You’d Gone Fishing? St. Clare’s Fish Fries will Reel You In!
The best catch of the day during the six Fridays of Lent can be found at St. Clare Catholic Church in Canyon Country. This is the 38th year of the legendary Lenten Fish Fries that benefit the needy in the community.
Beer Battered Alaskan Cod, French fries or rice pilaf, homemade coleslaw, fresh rolls, coffee, tea and milk, are all part of the traditional fish dinners that began on Friday, February 12th and will continue each Friday through March 18th.
Hundreds of dedicated volunteers have worked hard throughout the week to insure the high quality of these meals on reels!
Fr. Olin Mayfield, St. Clare’s pastor, can be found in the kitchen with an apron on and gloves in place, dishing up the dinner plates or take out containers. He is dedicated to the goal of raising funds to benefit the Bridge to Home, SCV Food Pantry, the San Fernando Valley Family Counseling Center, SCV Pregnancy Center, the Archdiocese of the Military and individuals who need assistance.
There’s no reason to go thirsty with the Knights of Columbus manning the bar…wine, beer or margaritas, anyone?? The lure of the dessert table hooks diners looking for a sweet treat to complete their meals. The Wives of the Knights of Columbus, Mission Circle, The Sower & RCIA groups, Cub and Boy Scouts, the Hispanic Ministry and Confirmation/Youth Ministry each have a week to showcase their sweet specialties.
The food is only part of the story, as diners run into friends and acquaintances from every part of the valley and beyond. St. Clare’s is THE place to be on Friday nights during Lent. Live, laugh, fish!!
Dinner: 4:30 – 8:00 p.m. each Friday from February 12th through March 18th.
Cost: $9.00 for the 2-piece dinner; $10.00 for the 3-piece dinner.
Meals are available for dine in or take out.
St. Clare is located at 19609 Calla Way, Canyon Country.
Let the folks at St. Clare “reel you in”! For more information, please check out St. Clare Catholic Church @ www.st-clare.org or call 661-252-3353.
