ARTree, We Hardly Know You
What is going on with ARTree! It has been more than six months since ARTree moved into a place to call its own. A community arts center that really has a center and is in the community. Imagine that! Old Town Newhall is where we call home. In case you haven’t been there, we’re at the south end of the Arts District, down the street from where the soon to be built (hey, two years isn’t a millennium) Laemmle Theater. You can still find our classes in Seasons Magazine (in your mailbox or online) but we will soon be, as the cowboys say, “bustin’ at the seams” with new classes. Are the ever-popular Arts Sampler and Watercolor classes going away? Au contraire my future CalArts grads. We will have these and much, much more.
We already offer a wonderful class in 8mm filmmaking that teach preteens to shoot and edit in one almost seamless process. You can take your watercolor talents to the next level with our advanced classes. In the works are limited series in origami, clay sculpting, and drawing. And, a favorite for girls and boys – building robots!
Also, don’t forget our public art projects for Canyon Country and Newhall, and our continuing Speaker Series at the Old Town Newhall Library on the fourth Thursdays of the month. Not bad for a scrappy little non-profit with dreams bigger than its bank account. Right?
Yes, your smart phone is actually smart enough to be used for that, and we know you’re smart enough to know that art needs to be an important part of your life and that of your family. ARTree is here to help you do it.
It’s easy to discover what ARTree is up to. Sign up for our newsletter at www.theartree.org, follow us on Facebook, or just call us at 661-672-7500.
