Mitchell Community School
Mitchell Community School is a true community school nestled in the Sierra Estates neighborhood in the foothills of Santa Clarita, California. The park like atmosphere and location of Mitchell draws members of the community to our school in the evenings and on weekends to walk dogs, host soccer games, and enjoy the beautiful campus. A visit to Mitchell Community School reveals a positive learning environment where high expectations and dedication to the highest quality education and a sense of camaraderie are prevalent. Our continuing educational goal is to meet the diverse needs of all students. At Mitchell, each of our state of the art classrooms has at least one SMART Board, a sound system, and one iPad for every three students in each class. Our students and teachers utilize technology in the classroom for collaboration and research. At Mitchell, we have two computer labs for students to further strengthen their technological skills. Our students also visit our state of the art science lab on a weekly basis to engage in problem solving through science experiments. We also explore the world of art through weekly lessons in art, movement and music. Finally, we offer after school classes to develop students’ computer programming skills. Our fifth grade student’s work on the Scratch coding programs, and our sixth grade students work in teams with Lego robotics. Even our primary students work on coding! Our first grade student’s work on coding skills through Bee Bots and Scratch Jr., while our second grade students work on their programming skills with Dash and Dot robots. Mitchell Community School continues to offer students a diverse educational experience highlighting technology, science and the arts.
