Proposed Monument to Honor Fallen Warriors
The Santa Clarita Veterans Memorial Committee is proposing the creation of an exquisite granite monument to honor and forever memorialize the Santa Clarita residents who served in the U.S. Military. After construction, the display will be placed at the Veterans Historical Plaza in Newhall along Walnut Street.
More than 50 Santa Clarita veterans have made the ultimate sacrifice: 20 in World War II, five in the Korean War, 14 in the Vietnam War, and 10 in the Iraq/Afghan War. By engraving their names on the monument, soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country will be memorialized among historical artwork and the names of other fallen heroes.
The display will have nearly 50 names, with room for more, and will include veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Iraq War.
This project has earned endorsements from many local organizations, businesses and citizens who are offering support for the project.
