Santa Clarita Soroptimists Team Up to Help Girls Build Their Dreams!

by | Apr 1, 2016 | On The Town

Members of both local clubs of Soroptimist International hosted an all-day seminar for girls ages 14 to 18 called “Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls”. The Diane G. VanHook University Center was offered by sponsor College of the Canyons. Girls from all across the William. S. Hart High School District joined in the program, with significant participation by Bowman High School and Hart School. Lunch was provided courtesy of Jersey Mike’s.
“Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls” programs are being conducted by Soroptimist clubs all over the Americas, and beyond, based upon a curriculum founded by the international federation to promote education and empowerment for girls. Saturday’s Santa Clarita event opened with Amber Martinez (Comfort Keepers) as key-note speaker. Ms. Martinez was then joined by noteworthy women from across the business and non-profit community. Topics included career investigation, goal setting, stress management, and more… with the main theme of learning to find and realize dreams.
Soroptimist International is an international volunteer service organization founded in 1921 for business and professional women of all ages, cultures and ethnic groups.
Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley holds well-recognized events in the community such as “Bras for a Cause” and “Gentlemen for a Cause” (www.sigscv.org) while Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley holds “The Wine Affair” and a successful, annual fashion show.
