Should I have Pet Insurance?
That is the question we receive a lot…should I have pet insurance? This is a unique answer as it truly is based on the personal needs of each family, their pet(s) [breed, age, health, etc.], financial situation, personal connection/investment into their pet(s) and other factors. The one thing we can help clients understand better is the value of pet insurance, whether or not it is right for you is still a discussion amongst your family.
In general, pet insurance is becoming more beneficial. As costs rise across the board in the medical industry so does pet care costs. The average pet emergency is between $3,000-$5,000 based on different insurance estimations we’ve seen from our professional memberships. Another thought is the likely-hood of a pet needing some sort of regular medical care in five years makes perfect sense, dental cleanings, yearly check-ups, vaccinations, etc. and depending on the insurance you have, it can help cover some or all of these costs as well, not just emergencies.
One thing many pet owners don’t know is many big name insurance companies offer pet insurance as an add-on option to home or car insurance many times at an affordable rate. It may not be as explicit pet care insurance as you want, but offers coverage. In general, a separate dedicated insurance plan is best for your pet as it will be more comprehensive in coverage.
Below is a list of valuable sites we’ve gathered from some of the best sources about Pet Insurance. For more information please read below:
