Syd Masters and The Swing Riders Come to Town
Kick off your 2016 Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival experience with Syd Masters & The Swing Riders
at the Repertory East Playhouse on Wednesday, April 20. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the concert begins at 8 p.m.
Laughs and toe tappin’ come with these vintage cowboy swing sounds that appeal to all ages! If you want great music from a band of multitalented, merry men – and if you like chuckles and belly laughs along with your music – look no further! Syd Masters & The Swing Riders bill their style as “Vintage Western Cowboy Swing.” They are serious musicians having a seriously great time presenting music from the old days, when cowboys sang songs about the ups and downs and heartaches of life.
The band’s founder, Syd Masters, is a singer and songwriter of Western music. The Western Music Association, Academy of Western Artists and The New Mexico Music Industry have combined to nominate him for more than 60 awards over the past decade. Vocalist of the Year, Country Song of the Year, Best Album, Best Band, Most Humorous Song, and Best Song are some of the categories in which he was victorious. Syd Masters is the author and recording artist of the Official State Cowboy Song of New Mexico, “Under New Mexico Skies,” making him the only person in the United States to hold such an honor.
The Band is composed of: Syd Masters, Lead Singer and Rhythm Guitarist; Lonnie Ohta-Mayer, Swing Rider Lead Guitarist and Harmony Vocalist; Gary Roller Bassist and Harmony Vocalist.
Tickets cost $25 for general admission; WMA, SCVHS and FOHP members can purchase tickets for $22. Say you saw this article in The Magazine of Santa Clarita for a special discounted rate: $22.
