Valencia Flyers Make the Playoffs – Flyers have the best record in the Western States Hockey League
The Valencia Flyers Junior A hockey team finished No. 1 in the Western States Hockey League with a franchise record best of 45-7-0. This record has earned the Valencia Flyers home ice advantage at the Valencia Ice Station for the bulk of the Playoff Series, starting with the semifinals on Thursday, March 17 at 7 p.m.
Head Coach Josh Berge, who came to the Flyers a mere three seasons ago, has led the Flyers into history with the best record in the league and the best record in their franchise history. The Valencia Flyers, a Junior A hockey team, began 15 years ago and operates within the Western States Hockey League (WSHL). It offers a home to boys ages 16-21 from Valencia and around the world.
Proud Owner Roger Perez began this team out of his love for hockey and with the hope of offering a place for young players to learn to be their best, while also nurturing the growth of each player’s character.
“The mission of the Valencia Flyers is not only to create strong hockey players but to help nurture young boys into becoming strong men, who will one day be leaders in their own communities,” said Roger Perez.
Many milestones were achieved in this year’s run for the cup. The record was set for the most franchise wins in a season and first regular season WSHL title for the Flyers. The record of 45-7-0 is the Flyers most successful campaign in their 15-year history. Forward Jakob Kranabetter set a record for most assists in a season, and Goaltender Linus Rytter set three Flyers franchise records with his work in the net.
With the best record in the league, a top coach and talented hockey players, the Valencia Flyers are looking to continue their journey through history and clinch the much coveted ‘Thorne Cup’.
The first home game semifinal series will be played at the Valencia Ice Station next Thursday, March 17 at 7:00pm. Come early and join all the fans at the pre-game tailgate BBQ.
