Celebrity Sightings – May 2016
Celebrity Sightings is heating up this May with some A-list stars. Santa Clarita resident Miriam Robles spotted Harrison Ford! Originally from Chicago, Harrison Ford bounced back and forth between acting and other jobs as he picked up small roles – until he landed his first big break in American Graffiti. Picking up iconic roles, such as Hans Solo in Star Wars Episode IV, Harrison Ford’s career skyrocketed. He continued on to play Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark, and slowly the nominations and awards started coming. Harrison Ford received his first and only Academy Award nomination for playing John Book in Witness in 1986. Since then, he has received four Golden Globe nominations and the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Outside of his film career, Harrison Ford is a private pilot of both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, and owns an 800-acre ranch in Jackson, Wyoming, approximately half of which he has donated as a nature reserve. On several occasions, Ford has personally provided emergency helicopter services at the request of local authorities, in one instance rescuing a hiker overcome by dehydration. In March 2015, he made an emergency landing on a golf course in Venice. He reported engine failure, and suffered broken bones as a result.
Santa Clarita resident Jennifer Duprey snapped a Celebrity Sightings photo with actor Nick Cannon at Universal CityWalk. Born not too far away in San Diego, Nick Cannon is most famous his work producing and writing America’s Got Talent. A jack-of-all-trades, Nick Cannon has worked in various parts of filming and production from acting to writing to producing directing to soundtrack. He started in acting with Nickelodeon’s All That and worked in various movies. He started producing with The Nick Cannon Show and went on to produce Wild ‘N Out and the Nickelodeon HALO Awards. Nick Cannon won Best Actor at the BET Awards for his roll in Drumline, as well as a nomination for Best Reality Show Host on America’s Got Talent from the Critics’ Choice TV Awards.
