The Newhall Painters Exhibit on Display at Library
A new art exhibit by The Newhall Painters is on display now through Friday, August 5in the Community Room at the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street.
The exhibit entitled “Capturing the Drama of Color” is a display of The Newhall Painters’ enthusiastic works on paper and canvas using oil paint, watercolor and acrylic. They value all the elements of art including line, texture, composition, value and color. However, they are most decidedly colorists. They see color, find color, push color, exaggerate color, mix colors, experiment with color and celebrate color. Because of their fascination with color, their artwork is often considered to be impressionistic and painterly rather than descriptively realistic.
The Newhall Painters seek out intriguing locations, striking vistas, powerful compositions, inspirational subjects and serene images they intend to document and capture, then use the discipline of science as it relates to color by employing various techniques to apply or manipulate water, pigment, brushes, pallet knife, paint, oil and turpentine to block in important shapes.
The “Capturing the Drama of Color” exhibit will feature the work of artists Gary Friedman, Patty O’Hearn, Zony Gordon and Jane Dietz.
There will be a public reception for the exhibit from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6 in the Community Room at the Old Town Newhall Library. Attendees will enjoy light appetizers, live music and an opportunity to meet the featured artists.
