Rooting Families to Grow in God
Santa Clarita United Methodist Church’s focus and mission is Rooting Families to Grow in Christ. We provide events and activities to support and nurture families of all kinds in building relationships with each other and with God. Building these relationships will strengthen individual lives, families, and our community as a whole.
The month of May focuses on several of those significant relationships. For example, many of our youth will be graduating from high school and moving on into adulthood; this is a significant time to be supportive and nurturing to those kids who find themselves moving into a new and challenging season. There is no better way for a faith community to mentor youth into adulthood than to love them, and provide a strong witness of what it means to grow in the ways of God. These are the leaders, the shapers, and the future foundations of our city, our valley, our country and world; it is our goal to give them the tools they need to lead well.
May is also a month where we celebrate moms, the women who have nurtured us in life. Mother’s Day can be a great day of joy as you celebrate these women who have made our lives possible by mentoring and supporting us as we grow into the people we were meant to be. It also can be a day of sorrow for those who have lost their mothers or whose mothers have been less than nurturing. This is a day to reach out to them as well, and although their mothers were unable to be a source of strength and support, we can (as a community) show them those traits now.
As part of rooting families to grow in Christ, we are also hosting a Summer Fun Fest to kick off summer. You are all invited to join us for Games, Grub and Good Times on June 5th at the Church. We are hosting this event so that families can spend time together, to enjoy life together, and to celebrate the coming of a wonderful season together. The event is free, and all are welcome!
Lastly, if you are looking for a community to explore your faith journey with, we would love to have you come visit us on Sunday. No matter if you have been walking with God for many years, or are not even too sure what this whole thing is about, we welcome you and would love to hear your story! Blessings.
