West Ranch HS Teams Up with St. Jude
West Ranch High School student Samantha Marcus has teamed up with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, leading our teens to make a difference in the Santa Clarity Valley.
For a cause close to her heart, Samantha Marcus, co-chair of West Ranch Wildcats Against Cancer, wanted to go above and beyond in helping her school raise money for cancer, and she wanted children all over the world to benefit. Once a patient herself at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Samantha witnessed first-hand how children, as well as kids from our own community, fight cancer. She instinctively called St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to get involved. So on Friday, May 6, Samantha’s dream will become a reality. She and fellow West Ranch co-chair Evelio Gonzalez will host the first ever Team Up with St. Jude event in the Santa Clarita Valley. Come see West Ranch Powder Puff Girls Football team play each other at West Ranch High School on May 6. Samantha and Evelio are calling on their peers and families in the entire Santa Clarita Valley to come to this event and help raise money and awareness for childhood cancer.
“I think inviting other kids to help out not only makes for a better event and shows school spirit, but it brings us together as a community. Coming together can help us reach bigger goals in life,” Samantha said.
Everyone who donates to St. Jude will be contributing to ground-breaking research that helps save lives of children all over the country.
If your school is interested in hosting A Team Up with St. Jude event, please contact Samantha and Evelio; they would be happy to help set up an event at your school. If you can’t attend the event and would like to donate, please donate to St. Jude on behalf of our community.
About St. Jude
Team Up for St. Jude is a student-led, student-run philanthropic program in which high school students raise both funds and awareness for St. Jude, while showing their school spirit at the same time. Students can start letter-writing campaigns to get the word out, or host side events during high school spirit events to raise awareness and donations.
